MISSION OUTREACH
Our purpose in the Missions ministry is to put God's love into action.
The most important function of the Mission Ministry Team is outreach, whether halfway around the world to help people affected by disasters or poverty, or right here in our own community.
The most important function of the Mission Ministry Team is outreach, whether halfway around the world to help people affected by disasters or poverty, or right here in our own community. The Mission Ministry Team reviews mission projects, makes recommendations about giving, promotes mission knowledge in our church community, and raises funds for mission projects.
Examples of outreach include providing support for United Methodist Volunteers in Mission that come to Interior Alaska on Mission Projects. The Team also coordinates hosting homeless families in cooperation with other churches.
Currently, the Team is facilitating a sack lunch meal preparation once a month and a Bags of Grace effort to collect warm winter socks, hand warmers, and cups of soup, all of which are distributed to homeless individuals and families in the community. Several church members and the Sunday School classes are involved in these projects. Call the church office to find out more about supporting Mission Outreach at FUMC.
